A statue of Captain Peristera, a
legendary female figure of Siatista’s history.
She was the
sister of Captain Craka. After her brother was betrayed and killed, she
became herself the Commander of a group of rebels who fought against
the Turks. She was so aggressive against the Turks that
they decided to conciliate with captain (capetanissa)
Peristera and gave her amnesty. She stopped to fight and she came back
to Siatista where she lived
peacefully for a few years.
